Ellimint laid her hand on the chestnut fur, covering Fuil's flank. "She's dead." she muttered numbly, feeling far too cold inside.
The young man was investigating, spotting Kopper on the horse's neck. Obviously he was trying to tell him something. On her neck, he found a fierce gash. She'd bled to death, or drowned in her own blood. It wasn't a clean cut. It was harsh and ragged.
He looked around and found what he was looking for. A sharp stone, it's edge ragged and blunt at some parts. "Looks like your ape friends weren't as stupid as they seemed." he said, crouching as he held the rock. "And they weren't too happy about us being here."
Sitting there, she closed her eyes. Complete darkness blanketed her, welcoming her presence. She felt hollow, completely empty. She couldn't believe how much pain she had welcomed into her life. And still she wondered how much more she could bear.
It seemed that's all Ellimint's life consisted of. But really, what was the point of life? To live, for what? And then after so many years of just living, you die. And suddenly your name is useless, gone without a trace. It vanishes off the face of the Earth and there's no way to get it back.
Holding her breath, she let herself drift further into the back of her head. It seemed as hollow as she was. But she had something to live for. She had to get rid of her brother. She and Ava had to do it. He'd kill the world if he had the chance to. And it seemed as if that was what he was working towards. They had to stop him before he could.
Elli's blue eyes flashed open, a piercing glare to their gaze. Now it was time to learn. I had to learn it anyway. she told herself, looking up at her friend and the two new kids she walked around with. "When's the next storm?" she could feel it. It was coming, it wouldn't be long before a thunderstorm rolled around. But she wanted a more precise timing than just her gut feeling.
